Casa New Page New Page Programas y Eventos Voluntario Acerca de Recursos Servicios Search Results Copy of Adult Recommendations Copy of Adult Recommendations More Volunteer Position Description Outdoor Garden Specialist Purpose: The purpose of the garden specialist role is to assist the library in keeping the outdoor garden in good health. Volunteer Roles and Responsibilities: Upon successful completion of the volunteer screening process and adequate training garden specialist volunteers will assist with: Maintain weeding in assigned area of garden. Plant, remove, and transplant greenery. Suggest plant, flower, tree or other greenery purchases. Collaborate with other gardeners to maintain the integrity of the garden. Time Commitment & Scheduling: Seasonal. One to two hours a week, as needed, coordinated with the volunteer supervisor. Volunteer Qualifications, Skills & Abilities: Garden specialist volunteers need to possess the gardening skills and physical ability to perform the tasks listed. Upon completion of training and a reasonable time on task, volunteers must be able to retain procedures and perform tasks independently with limited supervision. While on duty, volunteers serve as representatives of the Rushville Public Library and, to this end, must present and conduct themselves in a positive, friendly, and helpful manner to the general public, fellow volunteers, and library staff. This role has occasional exposure to dirt, dust and mold. Visual and physical abilities are necessary to retrieve materials from tables and the ground, to lift, carry, push, and pull carts. Heavy items are to be handled by library staff only. Volunteer Screening Process: In addition to meeting the qualifications listed above, volunteers must agree to abide by library and program guidelines as outlined in the Volunteer Handbook and successfully complete a volunteer screening process which includes: Volunteer application Volunteer interview Criminal background check (for volunteers ages 18+) Parental permission form (for volunteers under 18) Volunteer Supervision: The RPL director is the volunteer coordinator and is responsible for screening and scheduling volunteers, initiating and monitoring the volunteer training process, and problem-solving any issues or concerns volunteers may have. All library staff members are available to answer questions or provide volunteer support on a day-to-day basis. Volunteer Training: Volunteers will be provided orientation and on-the-job training for the tasks involved. Personal Appearance/Dress Code: As a representative of the Rushville Public Library, we request volunteers report for the volunteer shift appropriately groomed and attired. Typically, when a new Evergreen Indiana card is issued the PIN number is the last four digitals of the card holder's phone number. Change my PIN? Log into the Evergreen Indiana online catalog (https://evergreen.lib.in.us/eg/opac/home). In the top right hand corner click on the My Account button. Click on "Forgot your password?" under the PIN number or Password box. Type in your library card barcode and the email associated with your library card. If you do not know the email associated wth your card you will need to contact RPL at 765-932-3496 for further assistance. Find the library's eBooks? For a device: 1. Go to the Google Play store or Apple App store and look for Libby. 2. Download the app and search for Rushville Public Library (Indiana, not Illinois!). 3. Use your Library ID (barcode number) and 4-digit PIN number to log in. For the desktop: 1. Go to rushvillelibrary.com. 2. Click on the eBooks icon on the home page. 3. Use your Library ID (barcode number) and 4-digit PIN number to log in. Renew my books? Go to rushvillelibrary.com and click on the catalog button. It will take you to the Evergreen Indiana catalog. When you find them click on the place hold link located on the right hand side of the screen. Donate books and other materials? The library welcomes donations of books that are new or gently used and published in the last three years. Please bring book donations to the front desk. If you need a receipt for tax purposes, please ask for a donation form. Chosen books will be placed in our book sale bookshelf. Proceeds from these sales directly benefit library projects. RPL reserves the right to return or discard any books not fitting the selection criteria and does not accept magazines, DVDs, CDs, VHS tapes, or worn, tattered or soiled books. Reserve a room? There are two ways to request an item through interlibrary loan. -Download the Evergreen Indiana app and log in (username = library card number, password = last four digits of the phone number given on your library registration). Look up the item to put on hold and choose the library you wish to pick it up from. Also add how you wished to be notified when the item arrives (text, phone call or email). -Stop at the front desk at the library and ask for Pam, our interlibrary loan librarian to request the material that you need. If there is an item that is not in our collection that would be used by our community, we want to know. Give the title and author to the front desk. Get a library card?
